The Eagles are flying into Super Bowl LVII, and after a great year, let’s hope they can bring home the trophy. While we wait in anticipation, tune in to this playlist from the Hawk to help pass the time.
“Dreams and Nightmares” – Meek Mill
After beating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, “Dreams and Nightmares” quickly became the new anthem of Philadelphia. The song tells the story of overcoming the challenges that stand in the way of achieving your life goal. The Eagles, who were viewed as the underdogs in that 2018 championship game, overcame the obstacles standing in their way and came out on top. We can now only dream of the same results this coming Sunday.
“Motownphilly” – Boyz II Men
Mention of South Street, cheesesteaks and Philly slammin’ back into action, what’s not to love about “Motownphilly”? Released in the early ’90s, this song embodies the thrill and excitement that is the city of Philadelphia, especially during the postseason. “The spotlight is on us now, watch us do this” is how the Eagles will be feeling, and we’ll be glued to our TVs and ready to watch them do it all.
“Fly like an Eagle” – Steve Miller Band
While the football team may not have been what Steve Miller Band had in mind in 1976, it can still be used as an optimistic song for the coming game. The lyrics “Fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me” can resonate with fans across the country as their spirits hope for a victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.
“The Eagles’ Victory Song” – Charles Borrelli and Roger Courtland
This iconic song may only last 38 seconds and contains a limited amount of lyrics, but it still brings the whole city together. “The Eagles’ Victory Song,” also commonly known as “Fly Eagles Fly,” was written in 1955 by Charles Borrelli and Roger Courtland and has since been named the official fight song for the Philadelphia Eagles. We’ll be singing this loud and proud every time the Eagles score!
