Fall is officially here, meaning it is time for sweaters, falling leaves and everything pumpkin spice. While all of those things are great, none can compare to seeing fall in Philadelphia. Between Eagles games and trips to Linvilla Orchards, there is so much to look forward to when it comes to autumn around Philly. With this in mind, here are four songs to get you ready for your fall season in Philadelphia.
“Envy the Leaves” – Madison Beer
After two years, Madison Beer returned to the music scene after dropping her newest album “Silence Between Songs” Sept. 15. The album features “Envy the Leaves,” a soft pop song with a wish to be as carefree as falling leaves. A gentle and emotional piece, this song is the perfect addition to your sad girl autumn playlist.
“Harvest Moon” – Lord Huron
While you may be more familiar with the Neil Young version, “Harvest Moon” takes on a whole new sound in Lord Huron’s cover. A haunting yet beautiful tune, Lord Huron uses their cover to perfectly capture a starry autumn night. With its peaceful dreamy sound, one could only hope to fall in love underneath a harvest moon this season.
“September in the Rain” – Dinah Washington
With hurricane season upon us, campus is celebrating the fall season covered in torrential downpours. “September in the Rain” uses a jazzy vintage sound to romanticize the rainy weather we have been facing all month long. While this song may not bring out the blue skies, it will definitely wash away the weather’s gloomy feeling as you brave the storm on the way to class.
“Fall in Philadelphia” – Hall & Oates
No playlist about Philadelphia would be complete without a song from the 1970s rock band Hall & Oates. As Philadelphia natives, their song “Fall in Philadelphia” possesses personal insights to autumn in the city. This song will have you grooving with its twangy rock sound all the way through the highlights of a fall in Philadelphia, whether it’s something big like another Red October with the Phillies or something small like an apple cider donut.
