Lunar New Year starts Feb. 1 and is based off of the lunar, or moon cycle, lasting for 15 days. It is celebrated in most East and Southeast Asian countries including China, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Tibet, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Mongolia and Indonesia.
It is common for people to give out red envelopes filled with money. They also give out fruit, rice cakes, fried dough and tea. The food often varies depending on the country and even the family.
Most people buy new clothes and wear red to bring them luck in the new year. This year’s zodiac sign is the Tiger! Is it your year?
