Valentine’s Day—a holiday social media dedicates to couples and love—has passed, and whether or not you had a Valentine this year, there is someone you can always rely on for love: you! So here is a playlist devoted to being your own Valentine, appreciating yourself and loving every beautiful part of you.

Just the Way You Are – Bruno Mars

Technically a love song by Mars, let it be a love song to yourself since the message of being true to who you are is at the core of self-love. This song brings me back to being in middle school, but the nostalgia it inspires can show us how far we have come. So looking back, just remember that “you’re amazing just the way you are.”

Independent Women Pt. 1 – Destiny’s Child

This is an anthem for independence. Both the song itself and the artists who made it a hit are the textbook definition of girlboss, and isn’t being a girlboss what loving yourself is all about? Being independent is powerful and makes me want to say, “All the women who are independent, throw your hands up at me.”

Who Says – Selena Gomez & The Scene

Another absolute throwback to a time when we all probably weren’t looking too hot. But this song started many self confidence journeys all those years ago. Gomez was an icon to countless young girls, and her telling me I was practically perfect was downright inspiring—and still is to this day.

Good as Hell – Lizzo

Girlboss anthem number two. This song probably fills me with the most confidence of them all. I have to dance to this song and belt out the words. Lizzo is the queen of body positivity and self-love. Personally, when Lizzo says, “You know you a star, you can touch the sky,” I have to believe her. You’re right, Lizzo. I am.

Letter to Me – Brad Paisley

An inspirational country classic to round us out. Paisley’s song is a letter to his younger self and what he would tell him if he could. I love the comfort and the confidence that it instills. Whenever you’re worried that maybe you’re not on the right track or you’re struggling, just listen to Paisley when he says, “You got so much going for ya, going right.”
