When and where are the ceremonies being held?
The 2023 commencement ceremonies include graduating students from Hawk Hill and University City campuses.
The commencement ceremony for doctoral candidates will be held from 4-6:15 p.m. May 18 in Hagan Arena. It is recommended that doctoral students line up by 3:15 p.m.
Both the undergraduate and graduate commencements will be held May 20, on Sweeney Field. For undergraduate students, the ceremony will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. The graduate ceremony will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. Undergraduate students are encouraged to line up by 7:15 a.m. and graduate students by 11:15 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held in Hagan Arena.
All ceremonies will be livestreamed for those who wish to attend virtually.
How many guests can I bring?
Because the doctoral ceremony on May 18 will occur in Hagan Arena regardless of the weather, doctoral candidates do not have to obtain any guest tickets. Currently, all undergraduates and graduates are not required to obtain guest tickets for additional people attending the ceremony.
In the case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held in Hagan Arena, and undergraduate students will be limited to two guest tickets. Graduate students will be limited to five tickets.
A new accommodation for this year’s ceremonies is a discounted rate at Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue and at Residence Inn by Marriott Philadelphia Bala Cynwyd. At the time of publication, the only option at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue are rooms with one king-sized bed. In order to obtain the discount, you must rent the room from May 19 to May 21 for $299. The Residence Inn Philadelphia Bala Cynwyd has more options for rooms and dates starting at $193 per night.
How much do caps and gowns cost?
A complete package, including a cap, gown, hood and tassel, costs $65.99 for undergraduate students, $71.99 for graduate students and $82.99 for doctoral candidates. For doctoral candidates purchasing a graduation tam, the total price will rise to $132.99. All of these prices are before shipping, handling and taxes.
