WYSK: Registration

WYSK%3A+Registration

What should I know before registration?

In order to register, students must have their six-digit PIN number, which they get from their faculty advisor. Once a student has their PIN number, they can find their pick time through The Nest. Once in The Nest, students should go to the Students tab, then select “Self-Service Course Registration” under Registration Resources, then select “Prepare for Registration” and enter Spring 2024 for the term. This will show the exact date and time a student can pick classes.

Maria Beazley, director of undergraduate advising, said students should confirm their pin number is correct before their registration day by entering it into the registration service in advance.

“Sometimes numbers get transposed, or it’s the PIN for a different semester,” Beazley said. “Don’t get me wrong, it is infrequent, but when it happens to you, it’s a very stressful morning.”

How should I prepare for registration?

Students can prepare for registration by making sure they are up to date on the upcoming semester’s registration information.

Timothy Higgins, associate director of undergraduate advising, said students often miss this information because they neglect to check their emails.

“Read your email because a lot of these things are sent to students as well,” Higgins said. “[Undergraduate advising] sends multiple emails throughout the semester, but more so during registration periods.”

Furthermore, it is important to know what classes are being offered. Using a schedule template, such as the schedule builder provided by the undergraduate advising or Coursicle, will help you keep organized.

What should I do if the classes I want are filled by my pick time?

Students should always make sure they have multiple backup classes in case their first options become filled. If it is required for a student to take a certain class, there are resources they can use and people they can reach out to. In the “Registration Planning, Tools and FAQs” tab under Classes and Registration on The Nest, there is a tab labeled “Registration Problems Guide.” There are links to items such as the academic advising department, course overload request form and answers to common questions regarding how to plan your classes, build your schedule and register for courses.

What if I need additional assistance during registration?

Undergraduate Advising will host Zoom meetings for students to join during the week of registration if they need immediate assistance. There will be advising on-demand from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. during each of the four days of registration, which can be found at the top of the advising website.
