Hi, I work in St. Joe’s Office of Information Technology (IT), and I’m here to provide you with a simple guide for all your computer problems! Before you call the Technology Service Center for more detailed information, be sure to take a look at this quick troubleshooting guide to see if we can help resolve your problems first.
Computer is not turning on: Cry.
Canvas is not loading during an important exam: Check your internet connection. Are you connected to the St. Joe’s Wi-Fi? If so, that was your first mistake.
Computer is slowing down: Remove old files. You don’t need your THE 154 syllabus anymore, it’s been two years since you took the class.
Fan is too loud: Take it out. The fan is just there for aesthetic reasons and serves no practical purpose. Simply unscrew the back of your laptop and easily remove the fan.
Desktop monitor is saying “no signal”: Plug in the computer.
Desktop monitor is saying nothing: Plug in the monitor.
St. Joe’s password is incorrect: Type it again.
St. Joe’s password is still incorrect: Type it again.
It’s still incorrect: Type it again. Slower.
Camera is not working during a Zoom call: Make sure there’s nothing blocking it. The government will agree to stop watching you throughout the call if you ask nicely, so you have no other reason to continue obstructing the camera.
Password is still incorrect: Type it again.
I have tears in my laptop and it’s not turning on: Just keep crying.
