Club baseball ended its fall 2025 season with a perfect 8-0 record and is the No. 27 ranked Division 1 club team in the country.
Senior captain Colin Kind was recognized by the National Club Baseball Association after batting .409 with nine hits, 12 RBIs, six runs and six walks. Kind commended his teammates for the level of commitment they’ve put in throughout the season.
“I think [the season] shows how much our team cares and wants to win, especially after we lost in our regionals last year,” Kind said. “Everyone on the team wants to come back and win this year.”
The entire starting lineup is returning, as well as multiple pitchers. Junior Braedan Nitti said the consistent roster has helped build the team’s chemistry and credited his teammate, junior Justin Muller, as the team’s hype-man.
“When he’s in the dugout, he’s always getting us fired up,” Nitti said.
Nitti also credited the team’s sustained success with how they look at their opponents.
“If there’s not a rivalry, we’ll create a fake rivalry with a team just so it gets us going and we want to do really well and beat them,” Nitti said.
Junior Nick Hugo was also recognized by the NCBA for his fall season after throwing a 1.26 ERA with 15 strikeouts, six hits, three walks and 0.63 walks and hits per innings pitched. Hugo wasn’t a pitcher until joining the college team and said it was “pretty cool” to be recognized for something he recently picked up.
Hugo also emphasized supporting younger students who may be new to the team or nervous to play.
“We’re here to win,” Hugo said. “We’re also here to have fun, and there’s no need to be nervous. Go play loose and have some fun.”
The team is set to compete in the Swing into Spring event in Panama City Beach in March. Hugo said spring training is a good opportunity to get closer with his teammates and play against teams they don’t typically see.
“We’ll get to see some new competition that we don’t see on a year-to-year basis, and I think it’ll just be a good experience for us,” Hugo said.
Hugo said the team has fun together and doesn’t place blame on each other if a mistake is made.
“At this point in our baseball careers, it’s really about just having fun and making sure we all get along and that our chemistry is good,” Hugo said.
Kind said the team’s goal as they head into the spring season is to finish top two in the North Atlantic – West conference and make it to regionals.
“We want to look to go on a run because last year we went 0-2 in regionals, and it was two good games, but they were just heartbreaking games,” Kind said. “We want to come back and hopefully move on from regionals onto the World Series.”
