With the premiere of its third season in March, “Ted Lasso” had everyone tuning into Apple TV+ on Wednesday nights to watch the latest episode. The show’s third season brought audiences interesting characters, plots and a new strategy to help AFC Richmond win the Premier League. After the first glimpse of the Richmond total football strategy in episode seven, the show shifts into a romantic atmosphere as “Find Someone Like You” plays in the background of Nate’s date. “Portions for Foxes” – Rilo Kiley (Grey’s Anatomy Season 1, Episode 1 and Season 9, Episode 1)
The longest-running primetime medical drama to date, “Grey’s Anatomy,” is loaded with hits from pop to rock to ballads. “Portions for Foxes” has the honor of being the first song used in the entire series, playing as Meredith Grey goes into the hospital for her first day of work as an intern. The song is also reused in the opening scene of the season nine premiere, as it introduces both a new group of interns and now attending doctor Meredith Grey. This tune sets the tone for the entire series, using its early 2000s pop-rock sound to get viewers ready for all of the drama and romance ahead.
“Saint Dominic’s Preview” – Van Morrison (The Bear Season 1, Episode 2)
After the premiere of its second season, “The Bear” became a show that no one could stop talking about. With mature themes, an all-star cast and your father’s vinyl collection playing in the background, this series is loaded with friends, food and family drama. “Saint Dominic’s Preview” makes an appearance at the end of the second episode of season one as Richie finds a letter behind a locker, leaving the audience in suspense for the rest of the season. With a strong 70s folk sound, viewers can brace themselves for the rocky rebuilding of “The Original Beef of Chicagoland.”
“The River” – Daisy Jones and The Six (Daisy Jones and The Six Season 1, Episode 8)
A highly anticipated series, Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book “Daisy Jones and The Six” premiered as a mini- series on Amazon Prime last March. While the show was well received by audiences due to its storylines and cast, what made the series truly worth watching was the original music performed by the cast members in each episode. Appearing in a concert montage in the eighth episode, “The River” has the same feel as a classic 70s rock hit, while it’s infused with all of the tension between Billy and Daisy, making it a stand-out single on this unique album.
