In the media-dependent world that we live in today, it’s become increasingly difficult to believe a lot of the stuff we see online. People, including President Donald Trump, post conspiracy theories and claim them as facts or create fake headlines and thumbnails in order to get as many clicks as they can. These are examples of modern day propaganda.
It’s not only everyday citizens doing this but parts of our government as well. The Department of Homeland Security posted a graphic Aug. 11, 2025, of Uncle Sam with the caption, “Which way, American man?” This is one example of a white nationalist dog whistle, as it is a direct nod to “Which Way Western Man?,” a book by white supremacist William Gayley Simpson. Stuff like this is common behavior from our current administration, and the man in charge is the king of pushing out false and misleading statements.
One of Trump’s biggest supporters is Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, who pushes propaganda himself to an entirely different stratosphere. Netanyahu’s Israeli Defense Forces are responsible for over 75,000 Palestinian deaths in the first 16 months of the genocide and promotes its efforts by making loads of TikToks. Further, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee helped provide over $3 million in lobbying since 2024, and over $51 million of contributions went to the U.S., using money to persuade politicians.
Propaganda nowadays isn’t just a poster promoting the military and other government sanctions.
Propaganda is believing that Renée Good was a “deranged leftist.” It is believing that Israel had only begun their ethnic cleansing of Palestine Oct. 7, 2023. It is believing the biggest problem in America is the racial divide and not the division of classes rooted in capitalism. Propaganda is everything this country is built on and continues to be perpetuated every single day.
