The war in Iran has been gaining a lot of attention these days, whether it is because you are someone who likes to keep yourself informed of political conflicts around the world or you learned about it when some weird thing called the Strait of Hormuz kept getting brought up in conversations revolving around insane gas prices. Whatever the case may be, the discourse around the topic can be brought back to our current president, Donald Trump.
Trump has said many times the main reason for this is missiles, missiles, missiles. The nuclear threat Iran imposes is somehow so significant that we need to degrade their missile system and kill Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Of course, our own federal government said in 2025 that Iran’s missile development lacks the ability to be a threat to the U.S. So, what did we do? We sent coordinated military attacks that killed their leader anyway, leading to change that Trump wants to be involved in. And yet, nothing has changed. No peace is being brought about. It’s just Trump incessantly telling us the war will be over and he will right this wrong.
Our country is tired of this. There is a 61% disapproval rating of how Trump has handled the war in Iran. No one wants this except for Trump and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and they are doing it unethically and, for Trump, unconstitutionally. He has performed the bombing of Iran unilaterally and without Congressional oversight for war. The only guidance he has seemingly gotten is from an opportunistic prime minister who has been wanting these attacks for years. This is not a war for Americans; it is a war for the ego of a president who wants to strong-arm other countries to flaunt his perceived power onto the world.
